Abrams eğrisi, bir ülkede kamu harcamaları ve işsizlik oranı arasındaki ilişkiyi göstermektedir. Bu eğrinin geçerli olduğu bir ekonomide kamu harcamalarında meydana gelen artış işsizlik oranının yükselmesine neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışma Abrams eğrisinin 1980-2018 dönemi için Türkiye’de geçerliliğini sınamaktadır. Değişkenlerin durağanlıkları Fourier KPSS birim kök testi ile analiz edilmiş ve her ikisinin de birinci farkı alındığında durağan hale geldiği tespit edilmiştir. Daha sonra, değişkenler arasındaki uzun dönemli ilişki Fourier Shin eşbütünleşme testi ile incelenmiş ve bu ilişkinin çift yönlü olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Son olarak, uzun dönemli katsayıların tahmin edilmesi için CCR yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Buna göre kamu harcamalarında meydana gelen 1 birimlik artış işsizlik oranında 0.45, işsizlik oranında meydana gelen 1 birimlik artış ise kamu harcamalarında 1.13 birimlik bir artışa yol açmaktadır. FMOLS ve DOLS tahmincilerinden elde edilen bulgular da bu sonucu desteklemektedir. Ulaşılan sonuçlar, Abrams eğrisinin Türkiye için geçerli olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
The Abrams curve shows the relationship between public spending and unemployment rate in a country. The increase in public spending in an economy in which this curve applies leads to an increase in the unemployment rate. This study examines the validity of the Abrams curve in Turkey for the 1980-2018 period. The stages of the variables were analyzed by the Fourier KPSS unit root test and found that both became stages when the first difference was taken. Later, the long-term relationship between the variables was studied by the Fourier Shin equalization test and this relationship was observed as bilateral. Finally, the CCR method was used to predict long-term indicators. The number of unemployment expenditure increased by 0. 45 Unemployment rate increased by 1 unit and public expenditure increased by 1.13 units. The findings from FMOLS and DOLS forecasts also support this result. The findings show that the Abrams curve applies to Turkey.
The Abrams curve shows the relationship between public expenditures and unemployment in a country. In the economy where this curve is valid, the increase in public expenditures causes the unemployment rate to increase. This study tests the validity of the Abrams curve for Turkey over the period 1980-2018. The stationarity of the variables is examined by the Fourier KPSS unit root test and it is understood that they are stationary at the first differences. Later, the long-term relationship between the variables is examined by Fourier Shin cointegration test and it is determined that there is a bilateral relationship among them. Finally, the CCR method is used to estimate long-run coefficients. According to this, one unit increase in public expenditures causes unemployment rate increase by 0.45 units while one unit increase in unemployment rate causes public expenditures increase by 1.13 units. The findings from FMOLS and DOLS estimators also support this result. The results demonstrate that the Abrams curve is valid for Turkey.
