Abstract:

Inflation, unemployment and poverty are important economic components that influence the socio-economic development of countries. Since these economic components are areas that Turkey has long been fighting, this study aims to make regional comparisons of these three factors and to identify regional differences in the relationship between them. In this context, a panel data analysis was carried out taking into account the data obtained for the years 2006-2016 of the subregions of Turkey on inflation, unemployment and poverty rates. The findings have found that the long-term impact of inflation on poverty is negative and unemployment is positive. In other words, it can be stated that long-term inflation increases reduce poverty and unemployment increases. In the short term, the impact of inflation on poverty turns to a positive regional sense. This result shows that inflation increases in the short term increases poverty.
