Abstract:

In this study, an alternative evaluation model was proposed for the evaluation stage of the pre-school education program and the aim of the teachers was to identify their opinions on the recommended evaluation model and existing evaluation practices. The study’s work group consists of 14 teachers working in a private primary school at the Gaziantep province center in the 2015-2016 Education-Teaching Year. The data of the study was collected through discussions with the working group. The research has used the "Comparative Assessment Form" developed by researchers as a data collection tool and the "Teacher Interview Form" related to assessment applications. The comparative evaluation form is applied to teachers with individual interviews, while the teacher’s interviews form is applied to teachers with focus group interviews. In the analysis of the data obtained by individual interviews, the visual analysis technique was applied, and in the analysis of the data obtained from the focus group interviews, the content analysis was applied. The research has found that many deficiencies and errors identified in the existing assessment applications and the recommended assessment model have been fixed. According to the teachers’ opinions, the recommended evaluation model is also determined that the pre-school training program, within the measurement evaluation practices, is a sufficient model that meets the need but that the model should be developed to provide sufficient data in discovering the interests and abilities of students.
