Abstract:

The Covid-19 pandemic, which emerged in China in December 2019, caused significant economic, social, pedagogical and psychological effects, especially on health, on a global level. Face-to-face education was suspended in approximately 190 countries, approximately 91% of the total student population was affected by the pandemic and started to receive education with distance education opportunities. As of the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, the Ministry of National Education has started distance education applications, especially TV, via the Education Information Network (EIN). The aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of EIN during the Covid-19 pandemic process. The research was designed in qualitative research design and case study model. The study group of the research consists of 32 teachers working in Istanbul and 81 parents. According to the results of the research, the use of EIN has increased with the Covid-19 pandemic. However, there are problems in accessing EIN and attending live lessons. In addition, it was stated that the contents and duration of the lessons were not sufficient, and the students could not attend the distance education lessons effectively. Although EIN provides significant advantages in continuing education uninterruptedly during the Covid-19 Pandemic process, it is not considered sufficient. Parents think that face-to-face training will be more beneficial. According to the results of the research, there is a need to provide equal opportunity in access to distance education opportunities, increasing access to the internet and improve the contents of lessons. It may be useful to regulation the durations of live lessons on EIN, improve the infrastructure, and guiding students, teachers and parents on distance education.
