Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen ve yöneticilerin görüşlerine dayalı olarak özel okullarda uygulanan öğretmen performans değerlendirme süreçlerinin bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla incelenmesidir. Bu bağlamda uygulamada yaşanan sorunların belirlenmesi ve performans değerlendirmesinin okullara katkılarının anlaşılması da amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca Covid-19 küresel salgınının öğretmen performansının değerlendirmesine yönelik etkileri de belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın amaçlarına uygun olarak, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgu bilim fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda özel okullarda öğretmenlerin performanslarının değerlendirilmesi sürecinin farklı açılardan değerlendirilmesi için farklı görevlerde bulunan 13 katılımcı ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin içerik analiziyle çözümlenmesi neticesinde elde edilen bulgulara ilişkin “Kamusal denetime ilişkin görüşler”, “Kurumsal performans değerlendirme süreci”, “Performans değerlendirmede bireylere ilişkin sorunlar” ve “Covid-19 küresel salgını ve sonrasındaki performans değerlendirme süreci” temaları elde edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda özel okullardaki performans değerlendirme çalışmalarında önemli sorunlar yaşandığı, iyi kurgulandığı takdirde kurumsal ve bireysel gelişimin sağlanmasında önemli katkılar sağlayabileceği ve Covid-19 salgınının etkisiyle gittikçe dijitalleşen eğitimin, öğretmenlerin performanslarının değerlendirilmesi açısından önemli fırsatlar getirebilmesinin yanında yeni sorunlara yol açabileceği ve henüz uzaktan eğitime özgü bir öğretmen performans değerlendirme sisteminin oluşturulmadığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
The purpose of this research is to study teachers’ performance assessment processes implemented in private schools based on the opinions of teachers and managers with a comprehensive perspective. In this context, it is also intended to identify the problems in practice and to understand the contribution of performance assessment to the schools. In addition, the impact of the global Covid-19 epidemic on the assessment of teacher performance has also been tried to be determined. According to the purposes of the research, the phenomenology (fenomenology) design was used from the qualitative research methods. In this context, half-configured conversations were held with 13 participants in different tasks to evaluate the performance of teachers in private schools from different perspectives of the process. The findings obtained as a result of the analysis of the research data through content analysis were obtained with the topics "opinions on public audit", "the process of corporate performance assessment", "problems with individuals in performance assessment" and "Covid-19 global epidemic and the process of performance assessment afterwards". The research has found that there are significant problems in performance assessment studies in private schools, that if well established, it can make significant contributions to the provision of corporate and individual development, and that education, which is increasingly digitalized by the effect of Covid-19 epidemic, can bring important opportunities for the assessment of teachers’ performance, and that it can lead to new problems and that a teacher’s performance assessment system specific to distance education has not yet been created.
The aim of this research is to examine the teacher performance evaluation processes applied in private schools from a holistic perspective, based on the opinions of teachers and administrators. In this context, it is also aimed to determine the problems experienced in practice and to understand the contributions of performance evaluation systems to schools. Additionally, the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the evaluation of teacher performance process also attempted to be determined. In accordance with the aims of the research, the phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research methods was used. In terms of assessing the private schools’ teacher performance evaluation process in different dimensions, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 participants working in different positions. Regarding the findings obtained as a result of analyzing the data in the research with content analysis, following themes have been identified; “Views regarding public inspection”, “Institutional performance evaluation process”, “Issues involving individuals in performance appraisal”, “The Covid-19 pandemic and its subsequent performance evaluation process”. This research has shown that; the process for evaluating teacher performance in private schools poses significant challenges, if it is designed well, it can make important contributions to the provision of institutional and individual development, and also education has been increasingly digitalized with the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic, can bring new problems as well as important opportunities in terms of evaluating the performance of teachers and a teacher performance evaluation system specific to distance education has not been established yet.
