Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the 21st century skill levels of school principals according to the opinions of teachers and school principals. The study group of the study, which is conducted according to the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, consists of 18 teachers and 11 school principals working in Kahramanmaras in the 2020-2021 academic year. The data collected through the semi-structured interview forms developed by the researchers were coded using the content analysis technique. As a result of the research, it was observed that school principals' problem-solving skills, which are under the learning and renewal skills, are high, and their level of professional and personal self-development is low. It was also observed that school principals were able to communicate effectively but could not use these communication skills in line with collaborative teamwork that led teachers to collaboration. It has been observed that school principals can keep up with changes in flexibility and adaptation under life and career skills, but they have deficiencies in managing change and time management under the same skill. According to the teachers' opinions, it was observed that school principals showed managerial characteristics rather than leadership and focused on the result rather than the process. Finally, it was concluded that the school principals' information, media, and communication technology skills were at a sufficient level according to the teachers and their opinions.
