Abstract:

Aim: This methodological research aims to adapt the Student Self-Efficacy Scale to Turkish and examine the validity and reliability analyzes on nursing university students. Methods: The research was conducted on 360 nursing university students. Translation and back-translation technique was used for language validity. Data was collected with the Personal Information Form, the Turkish Form of the Student Self-Efficacy Scale and the Self-Confidence Scale. Explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed for validity and reliability. Results: According to the results of exploratory factor analysis applied to determine the validity of the scale, KMO value was found as 0.845 and Bartlett test as x2 value was found as 928.007 (p<0,001). Results of confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the ten items loaded on one factor (x²= 113.984, sd= 32, RMSEA= 0.084, CFI= 0.91, GFI= 0.93, AGFI= 0.89, RMR= 0.041). Cronbach alpha internal consistency reliability coefficient of the scale was found as 0.81. Corrected item-total correlations vary from 0.45 to 0.56. The overall test-retest reliability was 0.64 and the split half value was 0.79. The self-efficacy scale's correlation with the Self-Confidence Scale was examined and there was a significant positive correlation between the two scales (r = 0.50). Conclusion: According to these results, the Turkish form of the Student Self-Efficacy Scale can be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool for nursing university students.
