Consumption is a human action that is seen as a research field of economics. So it is explained within some economic variables such as price and income. But also values, traditions, habits, emotions that build the social dimension of human mould consumption in the context of sociology and anthropology. These social sciences assess consumption in this way, and they criticize economics because it externalizes human features within the assumption of ‘ceteris paribus’. So homo oeconomicus does not comply with the truth of human. In this respect, human should be regarded as a social being, not an isolated individual, in the theories and policies of economics.
