Abstract:

The idea that summer translation is a multi-dimensional activity is generally accepted. The translation of the story is in the appearance of an activity that many translators prefer with the ease of being short. Contrary to these general concepts, the characteristic that distinguishes the short story from the novel is the existence of a length more than the short, concentrated and purified language. In literature, the story is closer to the poetry than the literature. The story is among the literary species that carry traces from each individual’s life and aims to teach about the events in life. Based on this thought, this study will study three separate translations of Guy de Maupassant's story "La Parure" in different years, translated into Turkish by different translators. We aim to study these translations that we will discuss in our study in the framework of Gideon Toury's Erek-Focused Translation Theory in terms of translation strategies and processes.
