Abstract:

Khalil Sultan was the grandson of Amir Timur and son of Mirza Miran Shah. Like Mirza Muhammad Sultan and Mirza Ulugh Beg, Khalil Sultan was also raised by Saray Mulk Khanum. Khalil Sultan fell in love with Shad Mulk, wife or a concubine of Amir Hajji Saifuddin, one of the prominent amirs of Timur, and married her without Amir Timur's knowledge. When Amir Timur learned it, he gave an order to kill Shad Mulk; however, people interceded because she was pregnant, and dissuaded Timur from his decision. Khalil Sultan lost the throne struggles to Mirza Shahrukh. Amir Arghun Shah, Amir Allahdad, his wife Shad Mulk and her servant Baba Turmish were all captured. Arghun Shah and Allahdad were killed at the scene. Baba Turmish jumped into the water while escaping, and died. Mirza Shahrukh appointed his own son Ulugh Beg as the governor of Samarkand instead of Khalil Sultan who was delivered to himself. He appointed Khalil Sultan as governor of Ray. After a short while, Khalil Sultan died. Being unable to stand the pangs of love, Shad Mulk killed herself. This study aims to show the negative results of the behaviors of weak and state administrators and to ensure that the managers and future generations take lessons.
