Bu araştırmada okul öncesi dönem çocuklarına yönelik hikâye kitaplarında yer alan beslenme kavramlarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda hikâye kitaplarındaki besinlere yönelik mesajlara, içerikte yer alan farklı besin türlerine, besinlerin kaynağına, besinlerin tüketimine, abur cubur tüketimine, karakterlerin beslenme davranışlarına ve hikâye kitaplarında yer alan yemek gruplarına ilişkin sorulara cevap aranmıştır. Nitel araştırma yönteminin benimsendiği araştırmada doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda 100 hikâye kitabı incelenerek araştırmacılar tarafından 4-6 yaş çocuklarına yönelik hikâye kitaplarının incelenmesi amacıyla hazırlanan “Hikâye Kitaplarını Beslenmeye İlişkin Kavramlar Açısından Değerlendirme Aracı” ile işaretlemeler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel olarak analiz edilmiş olup tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılarak veriler frekans ve yüzde değerleri ile sunulmuştur. Araştırma bulgularının geneline bakıldığında 100 hikâye kitabının 28'inde beslenmeye ilişkin mesajların yer aldığı saptanmıştır. Besin gruplarına ilişkin içeriğe bakıldığında, 100 kitabın 45’inde hiçbir besin grubuna yer verilmediği görülmüştür. Abur cubur tüketimine ilişkin kavramlara ise 100 kitaptan 22’sinde rastlanmıştır. Ayrıca 53 hikâye kitabında karakterlerin beslenmeye ilişkin hiçbir içerik sunmadığı saptanmıştır. Bütün besin gruplarını barındıran sadece bir hikâye kitabının olması ise dengeli beslenmenin önemi açısından değerli bir bulgudur. Hikâye kitaplarında geçen yemek gruplarına bakıldığında ise en fazla tatlı grubunun yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, çocuk hikâye kitaplarında beslenme kavramının yeteri kadar ele alınmadığı, beslenmeye dair olumsuz mesaj ve yönlendirmelerin olduğu görülmüştür.
This study aimed at examining the nutritional concepts in storybooks for preschool children. Following this purpose, the answers were sought for the messages about the foods in the storybooks, the different types of food in the content, the source of the food, the consumption of foods, the consumption of junk food, the nutritional behavior of the characters and the food groups in the storybooks. In the research in which the qualitative research method was adopted, the document analysis method was used. In this context, 100 storybooks were examined and marked with the "Evaluation Tool in terms of Nutrition Concepts" prepared by the researchers to examine the storybooks for children aged 4-6. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively and the results were presented with frequency and percentage values. Looking at the overall research findings, it was determined that 28 out of 100 storybooks contained messages about nutrition. Looking at the content of food groups, it was seen that no food group was included in 45 out of 100 books. Concepts regarding the consumption of junk food were found in 22 out of 100 books. Also, it was determined that the characters did not present any nutritional content in 53 storybooks. The fact that there was only one storybook that included all food groups was valuable in terms of the importance of a balanced diet. When we looked at the food groups mentioned in the storybooks, it was determined that the dessert groups were the most. As a result, the concept of nutrition was not adequately addressed in children's storybooks and there were negative messages and directions about nutrition
