Abstract:

Examinations in the distance learning environments are also widespread in these environments. Although identity verification methods enhance the security of online exam, they include sensitive processes due to the use of biometric/personal information and personal objects. Therefore, there is a need for more study of the identity verification methods used in online examinations. In this context, this study has studied the learning views on the methods of identity verification that can be used in online examinations from a distance learning perspective. This study, conducted with 186 remote-learners in the cutting-edge scan model, has sought answers to the question of which methods of identity verification are more reliable in online examinations. The research findings show that participants find biometric and information-based identity verification methods more reliable; however, the percentage of uncertainty about confidence in such identity verification methods in online tests has also been shown to be high.
