Türkiye’deki Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Kitap Okuma Profilleri

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’deki devlet üniversitelerinde lisans eğitimi alan öğrencilerin düzenli okuyucu olup olmadıkları, ne tür kitaplar okudukları, okudukları kitapların konusunun ne olduğu ve son bir yılda kaç kitap okudukları gibi özelliklerini ortaya çıkararak onların okuyucu profillerini belirlemektir. Çalışmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama araştırması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Türkiye’nin yedi bölgesinde ve farklı illerinde bulunan 19 devlet üniversitesinin 17 farklı fakültesinde eğitim alan 1580 lisans öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada, verileri elde etmek amacıyla araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan ve 8 uzmandan (1 ölçme değerlendirme uzmanı, 4 Türkçe eğitimi uzmanı, 3 yeni Türk edebiyatı uzmanı) görüş alınarak son hâli verilmiş Kitap Okuma Profilleri Anketi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde betimsel istatistiksel analiz yöntemleri kullanılmış ve elde edilen verilerin yüzde (%) ve frekans (f) değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda; üniversite öğrencilerinin genel olarak düzenli kitap okuyucusu olduğu, kitap okuma alışkanlığı kazanmada en önemli faktörün aile olduğu, öğrencilerin daha çok yerli eserleri tercih ettikleri, elektronik aletleri ve interneti genel anlamda kitap okuma amacıyla kullanmadıkları, daha çok macera ve bilim kurgu konulu eserleri tercih ettikleri, telefonun en büyük kitap okuma engeli olduğu, öğrencilerin kitaplarını genel olarak satın alarak temin ettikleri, kitap seçiminde en büyük faktörün kitabın konusu olduğu, öğrencilerin zengin bir kitaplığa sahip olmadıkları ve öğrencilerinin çoğunun orta düzey veya zayıf okuyucu profillerine uygun olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

This study aims to determine the reading profiles of undergraduate students in public universities of Turkey by identifying whether they read regularly, what types of books or genres they read and how many books they read in the last year. Survey research, one of the quantitative research techniques, was employed in this study. 1580 undergraduate students studying in 17 different faculties of 19 public universities, which are located in seven regions and different provinces of Turkey, make up the sample of the study. In this study, researcher prepared Book Reading Profiles Questionnaire, which was finalized after receiving the opinions of 8 experts (1 assessment and evaluation expert, 4 Turkish education experts, 3 modern Turkish literature experts), was used in order to obtain the data. Descriptive and statistical analysis methods were used in the analysis of the data and the percentage (%) and frequency (f) values of the obtained data were calculated. It was found as a result of the analyses that: university students read books regularly, that the most important factor in gaining the habit of reading books is the family, that students prefer domestic works more, that they do not generally use electronic devices and internet to read books, that they prefer adventure and science fiction genres, that mobile phones are the biggest obstacle to reading books, that students usually get their books by buying, that the most important factor in choosing the books is the genre, that students do not have a rich library and most students are suitable to mid-level or weak reader profiles.
