C1 DÜZEYİ BAĞIMSIZ KONUŞMA BAŞARIMININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİNE YÖNELİK BİR DERECELİ PUANLAMA ANAHTARI ÖNERİSİ

Abstract:

Bağımsız konuşma; duygu ve düşüncelerin, başkalarının yönlendirme veya desteğine gereksinim duymadan sözlü olarak aktarılması eylemidir. Bağımsız konuşmalar, bireyin bilişsel süreçlerinin ve kültürel birikiminin yanı sıra dil yeterliği hakkında da önemli ipuçları içerir. Bu konuşmaların belirli ölçütler çerçevesinde değerlendirilmesi dil kullanımının farklı bağlamlarda ne düzeyde gerçekleştiğinin belirlenebilmesini olanaklı kılar. Bu çalışmada, Türkçe öğrenen C1 düzeyi öğrenicilerin bağımsız konuşma başarımlarını değerlendirmeye yönelik geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracının geliştirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bağımsız Konuşma Dereceli Puanlama Anahtarı, seçilecek bir konu hakkında yapılan hazırlıksız konuşmaları değerlendirmek amacıyla geliştirilmiştir. Çözümleyici (analitik) yapıda ve dört düzeyde (Çok İyi/ İyi/ Geliştirilmeli/ Yetersiz) tasarlanan ölçme aracı; “söyleyiş”, “akıcılık”, “doğruluk” ve “söylem yönetimi” olmak üzere dört boyut ve toplam on ölçütten oluşmaktadır. Her ölçüt için, başarımın tam olarak gösterilmesi durumunda 4, en zayıf düzeyde gösterilmesi durumunda 1 puan olmak üzere konuşuculara toplamda 10 ila 40 aralığında bir puan verilmektedir. Dereceli puanlama anahtarının kapsam geçerliği için Davis analizine başvurulmuş ve tüm ölçütlerin kapsam geçerliği yönünden yeterli düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Puanlayıcılar arası uyum testinde ise Kendall’ın uyum katsayısından (W) yararlanılmıştır. Ölçme aracının bütünü için bu değer W=0,949 (tam uyuma yakın) olarak hesaplanmıştır. Bu veriler, geliştirilen C1 düzeyi Bağımsız Konuşma Dereceli Puanlama Anahtarının geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu göstermektedir.

Independent speech is the act of the oral transmission of feelings and thoughts without the need for the guidance or support of others. Independent speeches include important clues about the individual’s cognitive processes and cultural accumulation as well as language skills. The assessment of these conversations within the framework of specific criteria allows to determine the level of language use occurring in different contexts. In this study, the aim is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool for evaluating the independent speech achievements of the C1 level students learning Turkish. The Independent Speech Degree Score Key is developed to evaluate unprepared speeches on a subject to be chosen. The measurement tool, designed in a solvent (analytic) structure and four levels (very good/good/developed/unsufficient), consists of four dimensions and a total of ten measurements, “speaking”, “sensitivity”, “precision” and “speaking management”. For each measurement, the speakers are given a score of 10 to 40 in total, with a score of 4 if the success is shown exactly, and 1 if the weakest level is shown. The rating key was applied to the Davis analysis for the scope validity and it was determined that all the criteria were sufficient in terms of scope validity. In the test of inter-pointing compatibility, Kendall’s compatibility ratio (W) was used. For the whole of the measurement instrument, this value is calculated as W=0,949 (approximately compatible). These data show that the developed level C1 Independent Speech Degree Score Key is a valid and reliable measurement tool.

Independent speaking refers to the verbal expression of feelings and thoughts without the need for direction or support from others. Independent speeches hold important clues about an individual's cognitive processes and cultural background, as well as language proficiency. Evaluating these speeches within specific criteria makes it possible to determine the level of language use in different contexts. The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable assessment tool to evaluate the independent speaking performance of Turkish-learning students at C1 level. The Independent Speaking Rubric was developed to assess impromptu speeches made on a chosen topic. Designed with an analytical structure and four levels (Excellent/Good/Needs to be improved/Insufficient), the rubric consists of four dimensions, namely "pronunciation", "fluency", "accuracy" and "discourse management" and a total of ten criteria. Speakers receive 10 to 40 points in total based on their performance: 4 points in the case of demonstration of high performance and 1 point in the case of poor performance for each criterion. Davis analysis was used for the content validity of the rubric and it was determined that all criteria were sufficient in terms of content validity. For assessing the inter-rater reliability, Kendall's W was utilized. For the whole rubric, this value was calculated as W=0.949 (close to perfect fit). These data show that the C1 Level Independent Speaking Rubric is a valid and reliable assessment tool.
