Abstract:

The assessment of musical performance has attracted attention with some researches in recent years. Although musical performance isn’t naturally a competitive activity, it is accepted in every part of the society as if there is a the competitive display in music. Displayed performances like examinations and competitions in music departments of conservatories, education faculties and fine arts faculties have a great role in piano education in many parts of the world. The objective assessment of these performances is very imprtant for the reliability of the assessment. The purpose of this research is to develop an assessment tool which is proved reliable to validate the assessment of piano performance. General scan model was used in this descriptive research. The study group of this research was formed of piano teachers and 60 students who take piano education in the Akdeniz University Fine Arts Faculty music department in the education years 2017-2018. In the content of this research, articles have been prepared by scanning piano teaching schedule and related sources and piano performance ranking key has been formed as 8 dimension by consulting expert opinions. Cronbach’s Alpha interior consistency test has been performed to determine the reliability of the developed piano performance ranking key and the correlation of total points has been calculated to determine the consistency of the judges. Test after test method has been utilized to determine if the piano performance ranking key can make time dependant decisive assessments, t test has been utilized to determine if it can make sensitive assessments. The validity range of the assessment tool has been assured with the expert opinion. Article analysis was performed to determine the validity of the developed assessment tool. With the results of the obtained data, it can be said that the tool that was prepared to assess the piano performance is quite valid and reliable.
