Abstract:

In 1918, the independent Azerbaijan people's Republic was established; however, it was occupied by the Soviet Red Army in 1920. Therefore, many Azerbaijani Turks who love freedom have been forced to leave their homeland. Some politicians, scholars and writers who understood that they could not carry out their political, social and literary activities in their homeland did not accept the oppressive attitude of the Soviet ideology; they tried to carry out their struggles abroad. Under the leadership of Mehmet Emin Rasulzade, these names aimed at some activities in Turkey and Europe and tried to explain Azerbaijan's independence, Soviet oppression, struggle for Turkishness, national and spiritual wealth, in short, Azerbaijan's case in a political and cultural context. Hamit Dönmez is another name among these individuals who struggle for the same purpose. The poet, who opposed the Soviet occupation and was imprisoned for being a nationalist, experienced the violence of the red invasion himself. The fact that there are a few short articles about Hamit Dönmez in our country led us to do this work. Our study is based on document research and covers Hamit Dönmez's life and his study of the concept of homeland in his poems.
