Abstract:

In the globalized world, it is recognized that the traditional language teaching approaches that the teacher provides the knowledge are passive for the student. Foreign language education is possible in the environments where the student is actively involved, motivated, able to think critically, cooperate. Therefore, different approaches have been developed. One of these approaches is a project-based learning approach. Project-based learning is an innovative approach that supports the student’s own learning in foreign language teaching, bringing life to class. The aim of this study is to provide information about the history of project-based learning approach, the use in foreign language teaching and the project examples that can be applied in the four skills in Turkish teaching as a foreign language. Therefore, the resources in the country and abroad have been studied and the examples of studies conducted by the project-based learning approach to the teaching of foreign languages have been reviewed and the common benefits of the approach have been presented, considering that it will also benefit in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language.
