Abstract:

Titus Flavius Domitianus ruled between the years 81-96. In the traditional narrative of ancient sources, it was referred to as a tyrant and the administration was described as a period of oppressive and destruction. Despite the negative imagery of the resources, he made many decisions in favor of the empire. It is believed that Domitianus, who had been quite successful in the first years of his administration, was jealous of the successes of his predecessors and strived not to stay behind them. With his construction program he tried to transform Rome from the capital of the empire into the world’s capital. He is very strict in the economy, and taxation is very strict. As an emperor, he thought he should guide his people and kept the moral norms of the people under constant supervision. He was closely concerned with the stages of bureaucracy, behaved equally in his public appointments, issued various laws and made legal arrangements. Domitianus achieved a number of successes in his fights against some German peoples, making arrangements on the northern and north-eastern borders of the empire, creating a defense chain. During the last years of the government, repressive and bloodshed events have shaken the people and in the end they have been murdered. With his death, the restoration of freedom and the "Five Good Emperors" prosperity began.
