Abstract:

Abstract:

In this study, a scale development and processes that can be used to measure the attitudes of high school students to the music course in private schools. The research has taken advantage of the likert type attitude scale model. The scale, validity and reliability studies, developed using their expert opinions and consisting of a total of 16 sub-dimensions and 4 sub-dimensions, have been achieved through 146 students who are actively studying in private schools in the province of Ankara. The defined subdimensions are called cognitive, sensual, behavioral and adventive. For analysis, IBM SPSS statistics 22 package program has been used. Factor analysis was made in order to reveal the structural validity of the attitude scale towards the music course of special high school students, and in the analysis was used the method of analysis of varimax transformed basic components. For the reliability of the prepared structure, the internal consistency number (Cronbach Alfa) and in this context the correlations of the sum of questions are calculated. The total of four main factors and the factor weights varied between 0.62 and 0.84, the Kaiser-Meyer Olkin (KMO) value was 0.71, the internal consistency rate (Cronbach Alfa) analyzed to ensure reliability was 0.75. Based on these findings, the developed scale is a tool that can be used to determine the attitudes of high school students studying in private schools towards the music course, with validity and reliability values at a sufficient level.

Abstract:

In this study, the development stages of a measurement tool that can be used to measure the attitudes of middle school students studying in private schools towards music lessons are explained. Likert type attitude scale model was used in the study. The validity and reliability studies of the scale, which was developed via the utilization of expert opinions and consists of 16 items and 4 sub-dimensions, were to obtained by 146 students who are actively studying at private colleges in Ankara. The determined sub-dimensions are named as cognitive, affective, behavioral, and kinesthetic. IBM SPSS statistics 22 package program was utilized for the analysis. Factor analysis was conducted to determine the construct validity of the Attitude Scale of Private Secondary School Students towards Music Lesson, and the varimax rotation principal components analysis method was used in factor analysis. For the reliability of the scale, the internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's Alpha) and, in this context, total item correlations were calculated. It was observed that the factor loadings of Kaiser-Meyer Olkin (KMO), which is composed of four principal factors, varied between 0.62 and 0.84, and its value was a=0.71, and the internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's Alpha) value calculated for the reliability study was a=0.75. Based on these findings, it is thought that the developed scale is a tool that has sufficient validity and reliability values and can be used to determine the attitudes of middle school students studying in private schools towards music lesson.
