Abstract:

Becoming one of the most important incidents of the Ottoman History, the Battle of Ankara, had been a turning point for the first residence of Ottoman Sultans, the Bursa Palace. After the defeat of Ottoman army, Timurid army, under the control of Muhammed Sultan, entered the capital city, Bursa. Plundered by Timurid army, the palace was damaged and the Ottoman treasure, royal family members and courtiers inside were captured. The palace had been left during the Interregnum period following the battle and had not been reverted back. This study aims to search the plunder and trace the loot, royal family members and courties with using contemporary Timurid, Ottoman and Greek sources.
