Bu araştırmanın amacı, bir devlet üniversitesinde Hazırlık Sınıfı eğitimi alan üniversite öğrencilerinin İngilizce dersleri kapsamında verilen ödevlere ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmaya ilişkin veriler fenomonoloji (olgu bilim) deseni kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu toplamda 20 öğrenciye uygulanarak veriler toplanmıştır. Görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler içerik analizine tabi tutulmuş ve katılımcılara yöneltilen 10 sorudan toplamda 54 farklı kod çıkartılmıştır. Bu kodlara dair genel bir değerlendirme yapıldığında öğrencilerin ödevlerin konuları pekiştirmek ve pratik yapmak gibi amaçlarının olduğu yönünde görüş belirttikleri bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin ödev yaparken zorlandıkları konuların başında ödevler kapsamında geçen bilinmeyen kelimelerin fazlalığı gelmektedir. Araştırmada ayrıca Hazırlık Okulu’nda kullanılan Schoology yazılımının ödev alışkanlıklarına olan etkisi sorulmuş ve öğrencilerin bu yazılıma ilişkin tamamen olumlu görüşler belirttikleri belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin ödev tercihlerini içeren soruya ise katılımcıların farklı tercihler belirttikleri görülmüş ancak en fazla tekrar edilen kodların grup ödevleri ve pratiğe dönük ödevler olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ödevlere verilen dönütlerin öğrenciler açısından önemini araştıran soruda ise verilen cevapların büyük bölümü hataların düzeltilmesi teması etrafında toplanmıştır. Öğrenciler ayrıca verilen ödevleri yapma ile başarı arasında doğru bir orantı olduğu konusunda birleşmişlerdir. Araştırmanın son bölümünde ise ödevlerini yaparken en fazla zorlandıkları, sıkıldıkları, yardıma başvurdukları ve ödevlerini yaptıkları zaman ders ve sınav başarılarının en fazla arttığı ders sorulmuştur. Bu bağlamda katılımcıların çoğu ödevlerini yaparken en fazla zorlandıkları ve sıkıldıkları dersin Reading (Okuma), en fazla yardıma başvurdukları ve ders ve sınav başarılarının arttığı dersin ise Writing (Yazma) olduğunu belirtmişlerdir.
The purpose of this research is to study the views of university students who receive Preparatory Class education at a public university on the tasks given under English courses. The data related to the research was obtained using the phenomonology (evolutionary science) design. In this context, the semi-configured interview form was collected by applying data to a total of 20 students. The data obtained from the interviews was subject to content analysis and 54 different codes were extracted from the 10 questions addressed to the participants. When a general assessment of these codes was made, the students found that the objectives of the tasks were to strengthen the subjects and practice them. There are many unknown words in the subject that the students have difficult to do when they do the tasks. The study also questioned the impact of the Schoology software used in the Preparatory School on the task habits and determined that students expressed completely positive opinions about this programming. The question that includes the preferences of the tasks of the students was found that the participants indicated different preferences but the most repeated codes were group tasks and practical tasks. In the question that investigates the importance of the conversions given to the tasks for students, the majority of the answers given are gathered around the topic of the correction of errors. Students are also united to the fact that there is a correct ratio between performing the assigned tasks and success. In the last part of the study, the lessons were asked when they were most difficult when doing their tasks, they were tired, they were applying for help, and when they were doing their tasks, the lessons and exam success increased the most. In this context, the majority of participants said that the lesson that they were most difficult and tired while doing their tasks was Reading (Read), the lesson that they were most applying for assistance and the lesson and exam success increased was Writing (Writing).
