Günlük hayatımızın bir parçası haline gelmiş olan standartlar gelişmenin önemli bir ölçütü olarak önem kazanmıştır. Eğitim sektöründeki standartlaşma çalışmaları görsel sanatlar eğitimi alanında da kendini göstermeye başlamıştır. Görsel sanatlar eğitimi standartları sonuçta önemli bir farklılık ortaya çıkarmış, etkili bir biçimde eğitimin her yanına nüfus etmekte olan kalite ve sorumluluk gibi temel konulardan bahsetmiştir. Böylece standartlar sanatsal çalışmanın disipline edildiğinin ve iyi odaklandığının kesinleşmesine yardım eder. Ayrıca, görsel sanatlar eğitimi dersi sonuçların değerlendirilmesine yardımcı olacak değerlere sahip olur. Bu araştırmanın amacı; görsel sanatlar eğitiminde kalite standartlarının gerekliliğini ortaya koymak, bu konuda yapılan çalışmaları tanıtmak ve bunlar üzerine tartışmaktır.
