Bu makalede Selanik Hamidiye Cami’nin mimari özellikleri, 19. yüzyıl cami mimarisi ve siyasi yönelimler bağlamında incelenmiştir. Selanik Hamidiye Cami, II. Abdülhamid’in Panislamist siyasetinin geliştiği/olgunlaştığı bir dönemde, Oryantalist üslup özelliklerinin ön plana çıktığı, merkezden uzakta gerçekleşmiş bir yapıdır. Mimaride önemli bir simgeselliğe sahip olduğu düşünülen Oryantalizm, 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısından sonra Osmanlı dünyasında Batı’nın ekonomik ve siyasi yönden kuşatmasına “Osmanlılık” ve “Panislamist” eğilimlerin etkisiyle karşı durma halini yansıtır. Makalede, Selanik Hamidiye Cami ve Osmanlı dünyasında ortaya çıkan bazı Oryantalist üsluplu yapılar değerlendirilerek, söz konusu üsluba yüklenen anlamın süreç içindeki değişimine ilişkin sonuçlar ortaya çıkarılmıştır
In this article, the architectural characteristics of Salanik Hamidiye Cami are studied in the context of the 19th century mosque architecture and political orientations. Thessaloniki Hamidiye Cami, II. In a period in which the Pan-Islamist policy of Abdülhamid evolved / mature, it is a structure that has taken place far from the center, where the orientalistic style characteristics come to the forefront. Orientalism, which is considered to have an important symbol in architecture, reflects the state of opposition to the economic and political enclosure of the West in the Ottoman world after the second half of the 19th century with the influence of "Ottomanism" and "Pan-Islamist" tendencies. In the article, by evaluating some Orientalist structures that appear in the Thessaloniki Hamidiye Cami and the Ottoman world, the results of the change in the process of the meaning loaded on the subject was revealed.
