Bu araştırmanın amacı mesleki ve teknik eğitimde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin devamsızlık nedenlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kapsamında olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu mesleki ve teknik eğitimde kayıtlı olan ve okul devamsızlığı olan 13 öğrenci ile 13 veliden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri yarı yapılandırılmış 7 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan görüşme formu yardımıyla yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ile elde edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre öğrenci devamsızlığının nedenleri arasında okul ve okul çevresi, ailevi faktörler, öğrencinin sağlık problemleri, ekonomik faktörler, öğretmenler ve okul yönetimi yer almaktadır. Özellikle okuldaki öğrenme ortamının uygun olmaması, okuldaki şiddet, öğrencinin maddi sorunları, anne babanın ayrı olması, okul yönetimi ve öğretmenlerin ilgisizliği gibi etkenler öğrenci devamsızlığına neden olmaktadır. Katılımcılara göre, okul devamsızlığına karşı okuldaki sosyal, sportif ve sanatsal faaliyetler ile fiziksel olanaklar artırılmalı, mesleki eğitim ve üretim alanları geliştirilmeli, veliler ve okul yönetimi öğrencilerle ilgilenmeli, okul aile iletişimi geliştirilmelidir. Mesleki ve teknik eğitimde yaşanan öğrenci devamsızlığının önlenebilmesi için, veli, öğretmen, öğrenci ve toplum mesleki ve teknik eğitimin önemi konusunda bilinçlendirilebilir. Okulun sosyal, sportif ve sanatsal faaliyetlerinin geliştirilmesi, eğitim ve üretim alanlarında uygulama imkânlarının artırılması da faydalı olabilir. Meslekî ve teknik eğitime yönelik etkili bir yöneltme, yönlendirme ve rehberlik sistemi oluşturulabilir.
This research aims to determine the reasons for absenteeism among vocational and technical education students. Phenomenology design was used within the scope of the qualitative research method. The study group of research consisted of 13 students enrolled in vocational and technical education with a history of school absenteeism and 13 parents of these students. The study's data were obtained through face-to-face interviews using a semi-structured interview form consisting of 7 open-ended questions. Content analysis and descriptive analysis techniques were used to analyze the data. Research findings revealed that the causes of student absenteeism include school and school environment, familial factors, student health problems, economic factors, teachers, and school management. In particular, factors such as an unsuitable learning environment, violence, students' financial problems, separation of parents, and lack of care of school administration and teachers cause student absenteeism. To tackle school absenteeism, social, sportive, artistic activities, and physical opportunities at school should be increased, vocational education and production areas should be developed, parents and school management should care for students, and school-family communication should be improved. Parents, teachers, students, and society can be made aware of the importance of vocational and technical education to prevent student absenteeism in vocational and technical education. It may also be beneficial to develop the school's social, sportive and artistic activities and to increase the opportunities for practice in the fields of education and production. An effective orientation, guidance, and vocational and technical education counseling system can be established.
