Abstract:

There is hendiadys in every period in which Turkish acquires a certain presence and form. Hendiadys is at least as stereotyped as proverbs and idioms in terms of adding richness to Turkish expression power. These elements are one of the most important forms of expression, which shows the richness of Turkish in both oral and written expression. Recently, the number of studies on the Old Uyghur hendiadys has increased and attention has been drawn to the importance of the hendiadys in our historical texts. The hendiadys, which is a form of expression in the Old Uyghur texts, are manifested from the first written sources of Turkish to the present day. In this study, only the verbs seen in the hendiadys in structure in the text of Altun Yaruk Sudur have been detected. The frequency of use of the hendiadys identified in the study is included. After the hendiadys is listed alphabetically explanations about their meaning and etymology are emphasized, the verbs that make up the hendiadys are seen only in the hendiadys structure, as in examples of açur-suvsat- ‘to leave starved and thirsty’ and tal- yüg- ‘to faint2’ or one of the two verbs that make up the hendiadys in, as in examples of ısur- sok- ‘to bite2, to sting2’ and ursuk- bėrtin- ‘to be shot2, to be injured2’ was concluded that seen in the hendiadys in structure.
