Abstract:

ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to examine the moral decision-making attitudes of athletes playing football in infrastructure. The population of the research is in Mersin, which continues football infrastructure activities; Mersin İdman Yurdu, Yenişehir İdman Yurdu, Çukurova İdman Yurdu, Mersin Camspor and Akdeniz Belediyespor clubs consisted of 781 male infrastructure athletes, while the sample consisted of 449 male infrastructure athletes who received infrastructure training in these centers and agreed to participate in the research. In the study, the personal information form was used to reveal the demographic characteristics of the participants and the "Attitudes to Moral Decision-Making Scale" (Attitudes to Infrastructure Sports) developed by Lee, Whitehead, and Ntoumanis (2007) to measure the moral decision-making attitudes of the athletes and adapted to the Turkish culture by Gürpınar (2014). Moral Decision-Making in Youth Sport Questionnaire- AMDYSQ) was used. The data were evaluated in the statistical package program and expressed as numbers, percentages and averages. Mann Whitney U test was used for pairwise comparisons, Kruskal Wallis H test for multiple comparisons and Mann Whitney U with bonferroni correction was used as post hoc test and the significance level was accepted as p<0.05. In our study, no change was observed in the variables of father's education and sports age (p>0.05); Statistically significant differences were determined depending on the factors of age, game purpose, self-definition, taking the coach as an example, mother's education level, family training/match follow-up and family support (p<0.05). According to the findings, mother-father support and mother-father training follow-up have a positive effect on moral decision-making, the moral decision-making attitudes of the athletes whose game purpose is to develop and have fun are higher than those who do sports for the purpose of winning, and the athletes with high coach-athlete relationship quality exhibit higher moral behaviors. and it can be said that the moral dimension increases as the education level of the mother increases.
