Abstract:

In Kaleiçi, one of the protected areas of Antalya, there are many conventional houses with original plan type, construction technique, and cultural texture. Different users have lived in these conventional houses since the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman Periods. The reign of different civilizations in the region has caused changes in societies, lifestyles, and therefore housing. The Kaleiçi region, where traditional residences lived in the past, is now used mostly for tourism and trade. Kaleiçi, the most important tourism region of Antalya, has been discussed within the scope of the study due to its historical and tourism value. Ömer Lütfü Efendi Mansion is one of the most important, oldest, and largest residences in the region. The building, which was converted into a pension in 1989 and used for 14 years with the same function, was determined as a study area. The aim of the study is to identify the changes in Ömer Lütfü Efendi Mansion and to emphasize the importance of correct practices in restoration works in order to transfer this cultural heritage to future generations with the data obtained. As a result of the study, when all the data of the building is analyzed It has been determined that the additional structure built has a great effect on the planning scheme, and also, as a result of neglect, wrong practices, and the building's not being used for a long time, wear occurred on the facade and interior, and there are also losses in the original architectural elements.
