Abstract:

Old Anatolian Turkish is considered to be a productive period in revealing historical texts. One of the important works written in this period in terms of language, vocabulary, content, genre, subject and expression is the Kırk Vezir Hikâyeleri. Written in a plain language, this work was written in the 15th century. It has a didactic feature. The work, which aims to advise the Sultan and other state administrators on many issues by telling stories from the past, has the feature of a policy book in this respect. Due to the fact that the work contains rich elements in terms of vocabulary, reduplications were chosen as the research topic in this study. The study, which has many copies in Turkey and abroad, is based on the British Library 1 7882 copy. In the introduction, general information and definitions about reduplications are given. The subject and content of the Kırk Vezir Hikâyeleri were introduced in the first chapter. In the second part, reduplications in the text were determined and classified according to the number of repetitions, meaning, page and line numbers. Identified reduplications were examined under three main headings in terms of meaning, origin and structure. The reduplications made with the repetition of the same words, the repetition of synonyms, close, antonyms and words with reflection origin were examined in terms of meaning. A total of 483 reduplications have been identified in the work. Turkish, Arabic and Persian reduplications are divided into groups in terms of origin. In terms of structure reduplications are classified according to their simple, derived, compound and gerundial characteristics. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation about reduplications has been made and remarkable features have been determined.
