Abstract:

The study on the critical thinking characteristics of the characters in the written-qualified children's books has been established with the document analysis pattern from the quality research patterns. There are eight books from eight different writers. In the study, a dozen behavior forms, which include the characteristics that critically thinking individuals should have as a data collection tool, have been prepared and used as an assessment form. These behavioral characteristics include individual actions that constantly ask questions, constantly evaluate expressions, curious, find new solutions to problems, constantly seeking evidence to support their opinions, uninterested and not accepting inaccurate information. The identified 8 children's book was studied by researchers using the evaluation form and the data obtained in this context was followed by visual analysis. The study found that the characters were depicted in the form of individuals who are curious, constantly asking questions, giving feedback, directing their thoughts according to the problems they encounter and using specific criteria to reach a judgment. It was also seen in the books studied that critical-thinking characters were often presented in the role of children and the findings were discussed in the center of the relevant field.
