Abstract:

This study examined the rural potential of Muş province and the effects of this potential on the rural development of the province. The field study, which was made by referring to the opinions of the producers, was done through interviews. The main purpose of the research is to make field observations on the rural potential of the province in activities such as agriculture, animal husbandry and tourism and to carry out the study considering the opinions of producers. This study focused on various issues such as determining the factors that cause the effects of the rural potential of the province to be limited on rural development, revealing the reasons for migration and developing solutions. In the study, resources such as agriculture, livestock, water (Murat River and Karasu), tourism in Muş were examined and the importance of using them more efficiently was emphasized. To get high efficiency from these resources, the following issues should be considered, such as not misusing the lands, improving irrigation opportunities, testing new plant and new animal species, encouraging farmer organization, strengthening cooperatives and specialization, producing brand products, providing strong market support, providing interest-free loan support by reducing input costs, and establishing a strong market at the national and international level. If these are provided, the work area will develop much faster with sustainable rural development.
