THE IMPACT OF INTERACTIVE BOARD APPLICATIONS IN VISUAL ART CLASSES ON THE LEARNING OF ART HISTORY SUBJECTS

Abstract:

Interaction between cultures has increased under the influence of mass media. With his necessitates students learn more about art objects and cultural elements of other cultures. Loschert (2004) says; speed of students' comprehension increasing because of the interplay of interactive boards and the diversity of visual and auditory materials. For this reason, it is thought that the intelligent board is important for art history teaching methods nowadays. The aim of this study; to designate the effect of interactive board on students success of the learnings towards art history topics in the primarly school “Visual Arts Lessons”. In the research; an experimental research designed with pre-test/post-test and control group was used. The study was conducted with 50 students who are 8 grades at public elementary school in Ankara who have a interactive board in their classes. A brief presentation on Surrealism was given to the experimental group with examples from virtual museum visits and many artists visuals. End of the interactive board activities also asked students to do surreal paintings, to control group by using traditional training. In the analysis of the data, Independent group t-test (2 Independent Samples t Test, Related Samples t Test and Paired Samples t Test) was used. Data collected were analyzed with SPPS (Version 20.0) package program. The interpretation of the results was accepted as .05 significance level. According to the data obtained in the study, it was found that there was no significant difference between pre-test results of experimental and control groups, namely they were similar. The results of this study revealed that the academic achievement of the experimental group has been increased compared to control group. There was significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results of the experimental and control groups and also there was significant differences between post-test results of the experimental and control groups. However, students in the experimental group had a high level active participation and the control group were less frequently.
