Abstract:

This article aims to study the relationship between religion and culture in general from a sociological perspective. Thro the study, after the phenomenon of religion and culture is explained in a sociological framework, the relationships of the representations of both facts and the grift conditions are attempted to be understood. In this study, the definitions of religion and culture are not addressed by a merely authoritarian approach, but more, taking advantage of a synthesis of authoritarian and social-building approaches, these two concepts are defined. The outbreaks of the material and spiritual elements of the religious and cultural phenomenon are demonstrated by examples in the daily life and at the same time the intensity of the mutual relations of the two facts in question is clarified. For example, the relationship between religion and culture is materialized through elements such as architecture, clothing, art, entertainment, food and death funeral. There are two issues that come to the forefront in the subject of the discussion: the first is that the elements of faith and culture are intrinsic. The second is the difficulty of distinguishing the representations of the two concepts. These two problems, by incorporating the relationship between religion and culture into a transformation, in essence created a synchretic situation. In this sense, the two concepts also appear to be compared to each other as two social perceptions in the same value. The contribution of the study to scientific literature is a concrete contribution to the relationship between culture and religion in terms of religious sociology and with what kind of examples it can be seen with its representations. In addition, the conceptual disagreements of the religious and cultural phenomenon discussed in the scientific literature in the general sense, interpreted by some of our assessments, opened the door to the discussions in this sense. As a result, the relationship between religion and culture was sought to be explained and understood by conceptual, theoretical and concrete examples.
