Abstract:

Depression is a common and serious disease that negatively affects a person’s way of thinking, behavior and emotions. Despite these adverse effects of depression, it is among the most treated mental disorders in the world. Worldwide research and clinical applications have found that one of the most commonly used tools for diagnosing depression is Beck Depression Inventory-II. The purpose of this research is to make the confidence and validity of Beck Depression Inventory-II on the teacher candidates. The research was carried out according to the scan model from quantum research methods. The study was first conducted on the language equivalent of the inventory. The language equivalent of the inventory is made on the teacher candidates in the English Teaching Program. When the findings on language equality were studied, the correlation between the Turkish form and the English (Original) form of the inventory was determined to be high and meaningful. The final status of the Envanter was applied to 208 teachers candidates who studied at the Faculty of Education. The data obtained is kept in the Detection and Verification Factor Analysis. When the inventory is studied the findings related to the Opening Factor Analysis, it retains the number of substances in the original form and 57% of the total variance of the inventory. 3 has been revealed. In addition, the findings show that the size of the Turkish form is composed of seven dimensions. When the data obtained about the structure validity of the inventory was tested with the Verifying Factor Analysis, the conformity index for its seven-factor structure was found to be acceptable. The findings of this study can be said that the Beck Depression Inventory-II, adapted to the Turkish language, is a reliable and valid measurement tool for the purpose of diagnosing depressive symptoms of teachers candidates.
