Abstract:

This study aims to study the relationship between the beliefs of a romantic relationship and the romantic jealousy of university students. Romantic relationships are defined as perceptions and expectations that form specific ideals for a relationship. It is believed that the emotional injuries experienced by individuals in their romantic relationships are mostly the result of non-rational relationship beliefs. It is observed that students applying to the University Psychological Consultancy Guidance Centers to support for romantic relationships, especially to get support for problems such as conflict, jealousy, loneliness, problem solving and self-confidence. These situations may often be a product of exaggerated expectations or unrealistic beliefs about romantic relationships. Jealousy is considered one of the strongest, most common and devastating emotions in close relationships. Jealousy is a complex reaction given as a result of the perception of a danger that may lead to the loss or disruption of a concerned relationship. This research is designed in the relational scanning model. The study group consists of 250 university students who are studying at the Faculty of Education of the University of Amasya and who are already in a romantic relationship. For this study, the available sampling method was used in the creation of the research group. For the purpose of collecting data for the research; Personal Information Form, Romantic Relationship Faith Scale (Little and Hidden, 2013) and Romantic Jealousy Scale (Demirtaş, 2004) were used.
