Disiplin ve eğitim, kelime kökenlerinden uygulama alanlarına kadar birbirlerine yakından bağlı iki kavramdır. Eğitimin olduğu her yerde disiplinin varlığından veya eksikliğinden bahsetmek mümkündür. Bireylerin ailede başlayan eğitim süreci okullarda devam etmektedir. Farklı kültürlere ait bireyleri bir araya getiren okullar genellikle kalabalık ortamlardır. Öğrenciler arasında çıkması muhtemel problemleri önlemek için onları kendilerini geliştirmeye teşvik ederken başkalarının hak ve özgürlüklerine saygı duymalarını sağlayan bazı kural ve düzenlemelere ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Okul disiplini olarak tanımlanabilen bu düzenlemeler öğrencilerin kişisel gelişimlerini tamamlarken toplumsal yaşama uyum sağlamalarını kolaylaştırma amacı gütmektedirler. Okullardaki eğitim süreci boyunca öğrenciler farklı disiplin problemleri yaşamakta ve problemlerin çözümüne yönelik disiplin cezaları almaktadırlar.
Bu çalışmada ortaöğretim kurumlarında sık yaşanan disiplin problemleri, uygulanan ceza türleri, disiplin problemlerinin sebepleri, akademik başarı ve disiplin problemleri arasındaki ilişki, disiplin problemlerine dair alınabilecek tedbirler ve Ortaöğretim Kurumları Yönetmeliği’nde yer alan disiplin kuralları hakkındaki öğretmen görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomonoloji deseni ile yapılan bu araştırmada veri toplama yöntemi olarak mülakat yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı ise yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat formudur. Çalışma grubunda 12 öğretmen yer almaktadır. Veriler betimsel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, Ortaöğretim Kurumlarında sık yaşanan disiplin problemleri, sebepleri, uygulanan cezalar ve uygulama sürecinde yaşanan sorunlar ile disiplin problemlerinin akademik başarıyla ilişkisi olduğu ortaya konmuştur.
Discipline and education are two concepts closely connected from the word origins to the fields of application. Wherever education is, it is possible to talk about the presence or lack of discipline. The process of education that begins in the family continues in schools. Schools that bring together individuals from different cultures are often crowded environments. This study included teachers’ opinions on the disciplinary problems that are frequently experienced in high school institutions, the types of penalties applied, the causes of disciplinary problems, the relationship between academic success and disciplinary problems, the measures that can be taken against disciplinary problems and the disciplinary rules contained in the Rules of High School Institutions. In this study with the phenomonological design of quality research methods, the data collection method has been used as the interview method. The data collection tool is a semi-configured interview form. There are 12 teachers in the work group. The data is analyzed using the visual analysis method. The research has found that the disciplinary problems, causes, penalties and problems in the process of enforcement and the disciplinary problems in the institutions of secondary education are associated with academic success.
