Din, bireyin hayatında olduğu kadar toplumsal, ekonomik ve siyasal hayatın önemli kurumlarından biri olarak kabul edilmektedir. Din, bireyin tutum ve davranışlarında, sosyal ilişkilerinde, ekonomik hayatında ve siyasal hayatında belirleyici bir rol oynamaktadır. Fakat bireylerdeki dini yönelimin boyutları onların siyasal hayatlarını farklı olarak etkilemektedir. Bu nedenle bu çalışmanın amacı bireylerin dini yönelimlerinin siyasal katılımları üzerindeki etki ve ilişkisini incelemektir. Çalışmada Harlak ve Eskin (2018) tarafından geliştirilen dini yönelim ölçeği ve Keçe ve Dinç (2015) tarafından geliştirilen demokratik katılım ölçeğinin siyasal katılım boyutu kullanılmıştır. Araştırma grubu Tokat ilinde yaşayan 148 kadın, 255 erkekten oluşmaktadır. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları SPSS programı yardımı ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma alanyazında dini yönelim konusunda yerel düzeyde vatandaşlara yapılan ilk çalışmalardan biri olduğundan literatüre katkı sunacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmaya göre bireylerin dini yönelimlerinin siyasal katılmaları üzerinde orta düzeyde fakat negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkisi olduğu söylenebilir. Ayrıca bireylerin dini yönelimleri boyutları siyasal katılma boyutları üzerinde genel olarak negatif bir etkiye sahiptir.
Religion is accepted as one of the important institutions of social, economic and political life as well as in the life of the individual. Religion plays a decisive role in an individual's attitudes and behaviors, social relations, economic life and political life. However, the dimensions of religious orientation in individuals affect their political lives differently. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the effect and relationship of individuals' religious orientations on their political participation. In the study, the religious orientation scale developed by Harlak and Eskin (2018) and the political participation dimension of the democratic participation scale developed by Keçe and Dinç (2015) were used. The research group consists of 148 women and 255 men living in the province of Tokat. The research was designed in relational screening model. The research results were analyzed with the help of SPSS program. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature, as it is one of the first studies on religious orientation to citizens at the local level. According to the research, it can be said that the religious orientation of individuals has a moderate but negative significant relationship on their political participation. In addition, the dimensions of individuals' religious orientation generally have a negative effect on the dimensions of political participation.
