Bu çalışmada Giresun Müzesi envanterinde bulunan müsadere (el koyma) veya devir yoluyla müzeye kazandırılmış 14 adet pişmiş toprak kandil değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Hellenistik ve Roma dönemleri olmak üzere iki gruba ayrılan kandiller, kendi içinde de ayrı tipler altında gruplandırılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Hellenistik döneme tarihlenenler altı tipe ayrılırken, Roma dönemine tarihlenenler dört tip altında incelenmiştir. Buluntu yerleri belli olmayan kandiller lokalize edilemediği için bulunduğu tabakaya göre değil, mevcut kandil kataloglarında bulunan benzerleriyle karşılaştırma yoluyla tarihlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma soncunda kandillerin 7’si Hellenistik döneme, 7si’de Roma dönemine tarihlenmiştir. Elde edilen bu veriler benzer kandillerin form, hamur ve astar özelliklerinin karşılaştırılması sonucu elde edilmiştir. Bölgede Giresun Adası’nda yürütülen kazılar dışında herhangi bir kazı yürütülmemiştir. Günümüze ulaşan kalıntıların Ortaçağ’a tarihlendiği Giresun Adası’nda yürüttüğümüz kazılarda ise, herhangi bir kandil buluntusuna rastlanmamıştır. İlerleyen dönemlerde bölgede gerçekleştirilecek yeni kazılar ve elde edilecek bulgular, şüphesiz bölgenin arkeolojisine ışık tutacağı gibi, kandil atölyelerinin tespit edilmesi ve çevre kültürlerle olan etkileşiminin ortaya konulmasına imkan sağlayacaktır.
In this study, 14 pieces of cooked soil were given to the museum by means of the müsadere (hand placement) located in the Museum of Giresun (Museum of Giresun). The candles, divided into two groups, the Hellenistic and the Roman periods, are grouped within themselves under different types. In this context, the Hellenistic period dates are divided into six types, while the Roman period dates are studied under four types. The locations of the buluntu are not based on the layer where the unidentified candles are not localized, but are tried to be dated by comparison with the similar ones found in the existing candle catalogues. The study ended with the 7th of the candles in the Hellenistic era and the 7th in the Roman era. These obtained data were obtained as a result of comparison of the shapes, powder and astar characteristics of similar candles. There was no excavation in the area except the excavations carried out in the Giresun Island. The remains that have arrived to us in the Middle Ages in the Giresun Island, where we did, did not find any candle finds.
