Abstract:

In the treatment of obesity, bariatric surgery is the most effective method in the treatment of long-term lasting weight loss and diseases that may arise due to obesity. However, the development of health problems associated with malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies after malabsorbent effective bariatric procedures emphasizes the importance of evaluating the nutritional status of patients. This assembly was made with the aim of examining current approaches to the assessment and treatment of bariatric post-chirurgical malnutrition. Patients with bariatric surgery are at risk of nutrition due to physiological changes in the food intake and digestive path. Restrictive effect; the risk of serious nutrition-related complications that are rarely applied outside of Australia today is lower than the risk of malabsorbent procedures in Turkey and the world after Sleeve Gastrectomy. The classification of some malabsorbent effective procedures according to the absorption disruptive effect is as follows: Duedenal Switch > Sleeve Gastrectomy with Single Anastomose Duodenal Ileal Bypass/SADI > Mini Gastric Bypass> Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass/RYGB. The most common nutrient deficiencies seen after bariatric surgery are iron, vitamin B12, calcium, vitamin D, folate, copper and zinc but one of the most serious complications in malabsorbent effective procedures is protein malnutrition. It is quite difficult to evaluate malnutrition due to the extensive weight loss in a short time, the gradual nutritional protocol that should be applied to the patient. The assessment of the nutritional status of patients in both preoperative and postoperative periods, prevention and treatment of developing health problems related to nutrition is very important. However, specific indicators and more comprehensive advanced studies on the treatment and evaluation of malnutrition after bariatric surgery are required.
