The underlying reason for such an approach was to protect England’s interests in the Middle East, in which Greece acted as the gendarmerie force. Greeks claimed that the majority of the population, especially in the Thrace and Western Anatolia, belonged to them, and thus tried to legitimize their occupations in these regions. Their efforts in making their allegations true resulted in atrocities. The Greeks committed genocide against the Turkish and Muslim population and tens of thousands of people were massacred and tortured. This study, tries to examine the Greek occupation and atrocities on Thrace by providing archival documents and materials.
