Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to identify the behavior of cyber harassment, social media addictions, and social media disorders of students in the middle school. This study was carried out in accordance with the visual scan model from quantum research approaches. The study’s work group consists of 478 students studying in the secondary schools in the 2019-2020 academic year, Tokat, Erbaa district. The research data was collected using the Cyber Abuse Scale (0.70), the Social Media Addiction Scale (0.904) and the Social Media Disorder Scale (0.83) for adolescents. In the analysis of the data obtained from the study, visual statistics and nonparametric tests were analyzed using 2 Independent Samples, K Independent Samples, Spearman two-tailed test and nonparametric regression. The research finds that adolescent students studying in high schools have low levels of cyber harassment, social media addiction and social media disorder. It is also believed that the students who are men and girls have more cyber abuse behaviors and social media addictions than the girls. The behavior of cyber harassment and social media addictions of students are not different according to the type of school, while the social media disorders are considered to be more than those studying in the district high school and imam hatip high school. It is believed that the increased cyber abuse behaviors and social media addictions of students are also increasing social media disorders. It is also found that students’ cyber harassment behaviors are being overwhelmed by social media disorders at a low level.
