Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the problems faced by classroom teachers working in Syrian camps and their solutions. The research was designed according to a case study. The sample of the study consisted of 15 classroom teachers determined according to the criterion sampling method. The data were collected through structured interview form developed by the researchers. The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis method through NVivo 9.0 computer package program. As a result of the analysis, it was found that Syrian students do not know Turkish sufficiently, students have difficulties in adapting to the society they are in, cleaning habits are inadequate, parents are not interested in the school, they do not want to learn Turkish, the physical conditions of the school are inadequate, the curriculum is heavy and too much for students, and the staff working at the school is inadequate. As solutions to the problems, it was suggested that Turkish-oriented activities should be carried out to learn the language, students should be set an example in terms of cleanliness and good behavior, joint activities should be carried out with parents at school or outside the school, in terms of physical conditions, the construction of schools in suitable buildings rather than container buildings can eliminate many problems, the curriculum should be prepared in a simple and concise manner, and it would be good to increase the number of personnel to be employed at the school. Various suggestions were made within the framework of the findings obtained.
