Fair play sporda yardımlaşma, fırsat eşitliğini sağlama, saygı, dürüstlük gibi davranışlarda kendini göstermektedir. Sporda amaç oyunu kurallarına göre oynamaktır ve esas olan oyunun hem yazılı hem de yazılı olmayan kurallarına bağlı kalmaktır. Buradan karşımıza fair playin formal ve informal yönü çıkmaktadır. Formal fair play, oyunun kendine ait yazılı kurallarına uygun davranışı esas alırken informal fair play de oyunun yazılı olmayan kurallarına yani gelenekler, görenekler, toplumsal normlara uygun davranışları esas alır. Günümüz spor anlayışında formal fair playe uygun davranışların git gide azaldığı gözlemlenirken informal fair play anlayışının ise neredeyse hiç yok denecek kadar seyrek olması bunun yerine ise spor ortamında istenmeyen davranışların artması ne yazık ki toplumsal anlamda da sorun yaratmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı, formal ve informal fair playe yönelik davranışların incelenmesidir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda ülkemizde spor ortamında karşılaşılan formal ve informal fair play davranışlarını değerlendirme ve ödüllendirmeden sorumlu tek resmi organizasyon olan Türkiye Fair Play Konseyi’nin ödüle değer bulduğu davranışları geçmişten günümüze incelenmiş branşlarda ve formal-informal davranışlarda ağırlığın hangi yönde olduğu belirlenmiş ayrıca bu kapsamda davranışlar kategorilere ayrılarak yoğunluğun hangi kategoride olduğu değerlendirilmiştir. Türkiye’de fair play ödülleri 1981 yılından itibaren Türkiye Milli Olimpiyat Komitesi (TMOK) çatısı altında yer alan Türkiye Fair Play Konseyi tarafından verilmektedir. Bu araştırmada TMOK tarafından “sportif davranış” dalında 1982–2019 yılları arasında verilen 159 ödülden 36 tanesinin (%24) formal fair play davranışlarına uygun, 123 ödülün ise (%76) informal fair play davranışına uygun olarak verildiği tespit edilerek bu davranışlar rakibe saygı, kurallara uyma, hakeme yardım, model olma, sorumluluk ve yardımlaşma-dayanışma gibi kategorilerde incelenmiştir.
Fair play manifests itself in behaviors such as cooperation in sports, providing equal opportunities, respect, and honesty. The aim in sports is to play the game according to the rules and the main thing is to adhere to both the written and unwritten rules of the game. At this point, the formal and informal aspects of fair play come into the fore. While formal fair play is based on behaviors in accordance with the written rules of the game, informal fair play relates to behaviors in line with the unwritten rules of the game, that is, traditions, customs, and social norms. While it is observed that behaviors suitable for formal fair play are gradually decreasing in today's sports, the understanding of informal fair play is almost nonexistent. Increasing undesirable behaviors in the sports environment, unfortunately, creates problems in the social sense. The aim of the study is to examine formal and informal fair play behaviors. In line with this purpose, the behaviors the Fair Play Commission, the sole organization responsible for assessing and awarding the formal and informal behaviors in Turkey, have found worthy of reward from past to present were examined. Additionally, it was determined in which direction the predominance was in branches and formal-informal behaviors, and in this context, behaviors were divided into categories and the category in which the density was evaluated. Fair play awards in Turkey have been given by the Fair Play Commission, incorporated in the Turkish Olympic Committee since 1981. In this study, it was determined that 36 (24%) of the 159 awards given in the branch of "sportive behavior" between 1982 and 2019 were given in accordance with formal fair play behaviors and 123 awards (76%) were given in accordance with informal fair play behavior, and these behaviors were examined from categories such as respect for the opponent, obeying the rules, helping the referee, being a model, responsibility and helping each other.
