Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to determine the pre-match anxiety levels of basketball, football and Handball refrees and to compare those measurements with other variables. The space of the study is limited with the licanced referees of these three branches and sample of the study is composed of refrees from Samsun region. 132 referees (45 football, 45 basketball and 42 handball) participated to this investigation and they were carefully selected from all class groups. They were aplied in anxiety inventory which was developed by Spielberger and asked a questionarie about personal information. In the statistical evaluation period of the data, variance analayse and ‘t’ test were used. According to the results of the investigation there is no differences between branches in term of pre-match anxiety levels (P>0.05). But there is a statistical meaningful between anxiety points and class groups of the referees. According the study pre-match anxiety points decrease as the referees’ levels increase in the class groups. Furthermore, it is found that sports activities of referees before their referee career have meningful affect in the statistical comparisons (P<0.05). It is understood that referees benefited from their player experiences in the past during the interpreting period of their matches. In addition, there is meaningful differences between state anxiety points of referees from stand point of diffuculy levels of matches (P<0.05). There is also another differences about this topic is that, referees’ level of perceptions of matches increase as their places increase in the class group.
