Rekreasyon, dinlenmek, eğlenmek, yeniden canlanmak anlamına gelen Latince’de recreatic sözcüğünden dilimize geçmiş olan bir kelimedir. İnsanların günlük rutinleri dışında yapmış oldukları dinlendirici ve eğlendirici faaliyetleri rekreasyonel faaliyeler, bu faaliyetlerin gerçekleştirilmesi için gerekli potansiyele sahip alanları da rekreasyonel alanlar olarak tanımlayabiliriz. Rekreasyon alanları, halkın psikolojik, fiziksel ve sosyal ihtiyaçlarını karşılamasının yanı sıra kent ekolojisine önemli katkıları bulunan alanlardır. Kent parkları, ormanlar, açık yeşil alanlar ve akarsu koridorları, halkın rekreasyonel ihtiyaçlarının karşılanmasında önemli potansiyel alanlardır. Bu çalışmada, Çankırı ilinde kent içinden geçen ve kent için potansiyel bir rekreasyon alanı olan akarsu koridorunda, kent nüfusuna göre hesaplama yapılarak 101 kişiye rastlantısal örnekleme yöntemi ile anket çalışması yapılmıştır. Kullanıcıların rekreasyonel eğilim ve taleplerinin araştırıldığı çalışmada, alanın eksikleri belirlenmiş, alanda yapılan rekreasyonel faaliyetlerin kalitesinin arttırılmasına yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur. Çalışma sonucunda, alanın rekreasyon faaliyetleri için güvenlik ve temizlik açısından sorunları olduğu, alanda spor, koşu ve yürüyüş alanlarının arttırılması gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Recreation is a word in Latin that translates from the word recreatic to our language, meaning rest, fun, resurrection. The relaxing and entertaining activities that people do outside their daily routines are recreational activities, and the areas with the potential needed to carry out these activities can also be defined as recreational areas. Recreation areas are areas that meet the psychological, physical and social needs of the public as well as have significant contributions to the urban ecology. City parks, forests, open green spaces and flow corridors are important potential areas in meeting the recreational needs of the public. In this study, the flow corridory, which passes through the city and is a potential recreational area for the city in the province of Chankırı, was calculated according to the city's population and the survey was conducted with the random sampling method for 101 people. The study, which examined the recreational trends and demands of users, identified the lack of the area, presented recommendations for improving the quality of the recreational activities carried out in the area. The study concluded that the area had problems with safety and cleaning for recreational activities, and that the area needed to increase sports, running and walking areas.
