Abstract:

Verbs bring with them some descriptive elements that they determine according to the their meanings. These complements determined by the verb are called the verb’s valence and differ in each verb. There may be some changes in the valence of the verbs. These changes; in addition to the fact that the verb undergoes polysemy, becomes passive or causative, it undergoes a change in valence, as well as the use of the case suffixes that connect the complement to the verb, that is, the alternation. The verb may change a complement it has in historical periods, in the development process of the language, this complement may come out of the verb’s valence area, or the case suffixes connecting the complement to the verb may alternate both in the texts of the historical period, in the texts of modern Turkish, and in the dialect areas of a language. In this study, some common verbs in terms of phonetic and morphologic in Turkey Turkish and Karachay-Malkar Turkish were compared in terms of valence and the differences in these verbs were presented.
