Abstract:

This study aims to explore the relationship between cognitive distortions related to relationships and cognitive emotional regulation strategies and the ability to solve social problems. Relational scanning model is used as a research model. The study group consisted of a total of 478 volunteers, including 284 women and 194 men. The data used in the study was obtained using the scale of Related Cognitive Disruptions, the scale of Cognitive Emotional Regulation, the scale of Revised-Social Problem Solving and the Personal Information Form. In the analysis of the data obtained from the study, the Pearson Moments Collapse Correlation Analysis and Multi-Reality Regression Analysis techniques were used. According to the findings from the correlation analysis, the positive orientation to the problem and the mental way of solving the problem have been found to have a medium-level relationship in the positive direction between the focus on the plan and the positive review from the cognitive emotion-regulating strategies. The relationship between the unrealistic relationship expectancy of negative orientation to the problem and the relationship between the beliefs of the relationship of avoidance of proximity and the destruction of cognitive emotional regulation strategies is in the negative direction medium. It is also established that there is a positive-level relationship between the unrealistic relationship expectations and the belief of avoiding proximity and the destruction of cognitive emotional regulation strategies. The findings from the regression analysis found that cognitive emotional regulation strategies and relationship-related cognitive distortions account for 51% of the variance of social problem solving.
