Tıptaki ilerlemelerle birlikte uzayan yaşam süresi yaşlı nüfusunun genel nüfusa oranının giderek artmasına neden olmaktadır. Değişen toplumsal yapı ile birlikte artan yaşlı nüfusunun barınması ve bakımı toplumsal sorunlardan biri olmaya başlayınca kurumlarca üstlenilen bakım modelleri geliştirilmiştir. Yaşlı bakımının yapıldığı kurumsal bakım yapılan tesislerin sayıları hızla artarken, sunulan hizmet kadar hizmetin sunulduğu alanın niteliği de oldukça önemlidir. Yaşlıların zamanlarının büyük kısmını kapalı/iç mekânlarda geçirdiği göz önüne alındığında, kullanıcılarının beklentisine uygun tasarlanmamış alanlar, yaşam kalitesini düşürürken, iyi tasarlanmış kurumsal bakım alanlarındaysa mekânla kurulan etkileşim sayesinde yaşlı kullanıcılar hem psikolojik hem fizyolojik hem de fiziksel imkânları ile desteklenir. Bu çalışmada İzmir’de örnek olarak seçilen huzurevinde konaklayan toplamda 250 yaşlı ile gerçekleşen; algı, aydınlatma, ısıl konfor ve yönlendirme konularını kapsayan anket sonuçları değerlendirilmiştir. Katılımcıların hem kaldıkları kurumsal bakım alanını değerlendirmesi hem de beklentilerini belirttikleri anket çalışmasının sonuçları, literatürden edinilen bilgilerle birleştirilip, seçilen başlıklar altında ayrı ayrı öneriler haline getirilmiştir. Sunulan önerilerin hem yaşlı dostu iç mekânların tasarlanmasında hem de başka yayınların hazırlanmasında katkı sağlaması planlanmaktadır.
The length of life, along with the progress in medicine, leads to the increased proportion of the general population of the elderly population. With the changing social structure, the housing and care of the increasing elderly population began to become one of the social problems, the care models taken by institutions were developed. While the number of institutional care facilities in which the elderly care is carried out is rapidly increasing, the quality of the area in which the service is offered as much as the service offered is also very important. Considering that the elderly people spend most of their time in closed/internal spaces, undesigned spaces in accordance with their expectations, lower the quality of life, while in well-designed corporate care spaces, the interaction established with the spaces supports the elderly users with both their psychological and physiological and physical possibilities. In this study, the results of the survey, which took place with a total of 250 elderly people who stayed in Izmir as an example, covered the subjects of perception, lighting, warm comfort and guidance, were evaluated. The results of the survey study that the participants evaluated both the area of corporate care they stayed and their expectations were combined with the information obtained from literature and made separate suggestions under the selected titles. The proposals are planned to contribute both to the design of old-friendly interiors and the preparation of other publications.
Due to medical improvements life expectancy is getting longer and the ratio of elderly population is getting bigger. As world's population is ageing rapidly and family structure has dramastic changes, problems related to care is increasing. To solve the problem, (public, foundation or privately owned) professional care facilities have established to provide care and fulfill requirements of elderly. The services and care units of these facilities are quite important yet another important thing is the architectural features of these facilities. Since elderly spend most of their time in interiors, architecture plays an important role in their daily lives. An architectural design which meets its users expectations can enrich their life through psychologically, physiologically and physically. Within this study, 250 elderly who stays in a well-known care facility in Izmir have been chosen for survey study. They were asked to evaluate their facility in terms of perception, lighting, thermal comfort and wayfinding. Besides they were asked for their expectations. The information gathered from this study can also be enrich by further studies to thrive literature on elderly care facilities.
