Abstract:

The main objective of this study is to draw the attention that the cities that have received the title Old Friendly City (YDŞ) can also be developed as a third-year tourist destination. In the third age tourism, the characteristics of the destination are more important than personal motivation elements. In this process, local governments play a significant role. In this study, the YDŞ title in Turkey, Muratpaşa/Antalya, Kadıköy/Istanbul and Mersin Metropolitan were studied in the situation of preparation for the third year tourism. The method of interview was used. The forms created in the form of the scripts were conducted with the relevant jurists in Muratpaşa, Kadıköy and Mersin municipalities.  The number of visited persons, respectively 20, 21 and 22, is 63 people. According to the research results, despite the different views on third-year tourism according to the relations of the regions with tourism and the characteristics of the city, there was a positive cooperation in the way that the development of third-year tourism was appropriate in each of the three cities and recommendations were made.
