Abstract:

In the World Health Organization definition, health is explained with three basic components: physical, mental, and social health. Social health is the last health component that comes to mind among these components. The reason for this is the narrow definition of social health as that individual iving in harmony with their society. Social health is one of the multidimensional concepts that have determinants defined by the World Health Organization reports and include social cohesion that can affec the results and other determinants. With this study it is aimed to determine the social health level of the society and determine whether the social health level differs according to demographic characteristics. There search was carried out by applying the questionnaire method to individuals aged 18 and overliving in Zonguldak province and its districts between 01.12.2021 and 31.01.2022. Within the scope of there search, 994 questionnaires were evaluated. In the analyzes made, descriptive statistics were calculated, and comparisons were made according to demographic characteristics. The social health dimension with the highest participation of the participants is “family” (3.90±0.93), and the social health dimension with the lowest participation is “society” (3.05±0.77). When we consider the impact of social health on physical and psychological health and the life satisfaction and well-being of individuals, the level of social health is expected to be as high as possible. Forthis, in addition to individual efforts, the support of public-private institutions and organizations, universities, local governments, non-governmental organizations, etc.,and the contribution of social workers to the process is essential.
