Abstract:

The aim of the study is to study multi-dimensional loneliness among university students as a substitutes of smartphone addiction. The study addressed multi-dimensional loneliness as loneliness in family, romantic and social relationships. The study group consists of 407 university students who study in different departments and stages of a state university in the region of Trakya during the spring period of the 2017-2018 academic year. The scale of social-emotional loneliness is applied to university students to determine the levels of smartphone addiction-short form and loneliness to determine the levels of smartphone addiction. As a method in the study, the interactive scan method was used from quantum research methods. During the analysis, visual statistics, Pearson correlation ratio technique and multi-linear regression analysis were used. When the findings were studied, it was found that there was a meaningful relationship between loneliness and smartphone addiction in family and romantic relationships.
